The overall objective of this project is the study of the introduction of the cultivation of a variety of linseed, rich in omega 3, for animal and human consumption thus getting an alternative of agricultural land use, the enhancement of quality production and economic diversification for the invigoration of the rural environment that contributes to the improvement in the quality of life and the fixing of its population within a framework of sustainable development.
The specific objectives of this study within the agri-food sector would be as follows:
-Verify the oilseed flax variety adapts to the environment of Galician farms
-Establish a communication with stakeholders: farmers, producers, processing industry, manufacturers of feed and food, to analyze the potentiality of flax and uses of the seeds of this plant plantation industry.
-Develop final conclusions on the adequacy raise a pilot test in order to demonstrate empirically the deductions which will bring this study and qualify the practicalities of carrying it out.
Of this project is intended to make a valuation of the land surface through a study on the potential of culture-flax (rich in alfalinolénico) in agricultural land abandoned for application to animal feed and food industry.
This study aims to analyze the potential of the cultivation of the variety oilseed flax as an alternative to other products of traditional farm difficult marketing in the territories of Terras de Compostela.
Aim of this study is assessing the needs of cultivation of linseed, establishing parameters for planting and follow-up. Its findings will contribute to promote the diversification of agricultural land uses. The inclusion of flax seed so produced in the animal feed makes it possible to differentiation of the quality of livestock production.
He is set to dialogue with the various actors involved in planting and subsequent consumption of this variety of flax, as farmers themselves, beef producers, makers of feed and transformation and the food industry, with the aim of analysing the linseed comercializadora potential companies. The NNTT offer new ways of marketing products with differentiated quality that must be explored and promoted.
This aspect will analyse the possible benefits of incorporation of this variety of linen to the diet of animals for the quality of livestock production with a view to subsequent human consumption, as well as alternatives for mainstreaming as an ingredient in the human diet.
Implementation of this study will cover the planting of this type of flax as an alternative to the integration of women and youth to the labour market, through a new agricultural production. As machinable, not requiring permanent on-site work or strenuous physical work is practicable part-time and, therefore, compatible with other activities. Therefore constitutes a potential source of supplementary income familirar economy.
