Antequera understood according to the scope of the Group of rural development of Antequera, Spain is situated north of the province of Malaga, with a surface area of 1.148, 95 km2.
Covers the municipalities of Alameda, Antequera, Casabermeja, Fuente de Piedra, Humilladero, Mollina and Villanueva de la Concepción, the latter has recently acquired the status of municipality of the town of Antequera, both enjoys an excellent geographical location which has become a must for those who want to go down to the Costa del Sol or cross the Andalusian territory from side to side step.
Natural corridor of history has channelled communications between the upper and lower Andalusia. Its natural limits, face North and Northeast Cordobesa and Seville, Campinas on the South by the lush mountains of Malaga and the Guadalhorce Valley. Has natural spaces with great landscape value.; highlighting the impressive karst landscape of el Torcal and saline most important in Europe, wetland as the Fuente de Piedra lagoon; one of the main breeding pink flamenco.
Another aspect of describing the comarca of Antequera is its central situation, which makes the terrestrial communications hub of Andalusia and positioned it strategically to most of its territory.
Its topography and the centrality of the territory have done that in recent years it has equipped industrial, land producing a development of the logistics industry and distribution.
Finally the existence in the comarca of large areas of low relief, in comparison to the abrupt topography characterized the rest of the province, more continental climate, the quality of its soil and aquifers, presence give it an identity, allowing conceptualized as an independent rural environment, influenced by very different to the littoral variables, although very well communicated with the same.
